Hello everyone, we are so excited to be starting this clasd after just finishing Let’s Play class, which was an absolute game changer for us. Tori now (mostly!) loves to play and we can’t wait to progress her skills! Thank you Polona for this fantastic class!
March 10, 2022 at 9:13 pm #18202Welcome back, looking forward to more of Tori in action! And thanks! <3
March 14, 2022 at 10:54 am #18242So Tori is definitely a Brainiac!! Here we are with Crazy Balls and a straight tunnel – she loves this!
March 14, 2022 at 7:57 pm #18256Looking cool! When you don’t need to run after her to pick up the ball (meaning when you still have one or two in the pocket) you can turn around sooner and go in the opposite direction – the further you are from her, the more she will accelerate. It is especially important when you start making longer straight lines – you can’t stay too far behind so you can help her keep the line. Other than that, keep up the good job, no complaints! 🙂
March 16, 2022 at 5:15 pm #18298Thanks Polona for your feedback! We will be somewhere with more room at the weekend, will try thd straight tunnel again. Here we are with the next exercise, thanks!
March 17, 2022 at 2:13 pm #18310Good girl Tori! She is running really well! Sometimes you can make the U crazy balls style – run the U in one direction, throw the ball, turn around and call her directly back to make the U from the other direction, throw,… it is good for both forward focus and stamina. 🙂 When making crosses, try not to wait for her. 0.33 and 0.40 – don’t slow down, just keep going. If you manage to get on the other side of the jump before she reaches the take off spot, it will be just as easy for her as it is when you wait on the take off side, but you will not loose momentum and being in front of her. For some reason your crosses from right to left hand were a bit more fluent. 🙂 So keep an eye on that!
March 21, 2022 at 2:26 pm #18370Hi Polona, thanks for your very observant feedback! The reason I was waiting for her on the front crosses is that sometimes she would run around the jump, always going from left to right, as you noticed. In the video at 15s, 26s and 52s. Looking at thd video, I’m not fully tirned when she’s coming out of the tunnel, do you think that’s the reason?
March 22, 2022 at 11:22 am #18382Yes, that seems to be her little glitch. 🙂 If you manage to complete the FC by the time she is out of the tunnel and you are already facing your back to her, she has no problem, but if you are still facing her, she drifts away as she doesn’t know how to read your position. Your FC in those instances was never really late, there was still plenty of time for you to finish it before she gets there, but she doesn’t think so. 🙂 So we have to get her used to that. For this you only need the tunnel and jump. Keep the toy in your right hand. As soon as you start the rotation and face your front to her, start calling her name and move the hand with the toy so she can see you have it. So basically you are both motivating her and almost luring her over the bar even if you are turning not running straight. Reward with lots of enthusiasm so she knows her effort pays off. She has to get used to you turning her front to her, because sometimes you don’t have time to fully finish the cross way before the dog even gets to the jump in question.
March 23, 2022 at 11:33 am #18413Hi Polona, thanks for your feedback! We tried this idea of showing her the toy and it seemed to work really well, thanks!
March 23, 2022 at 11:46 pm #18429Cool! That was a quick fix. 🙂
March 25, 2022 at 3:14 pm #18459Hi Polona, this is the last sequence of Lesson 1 – not v fast but she enjoyed herself! Thanks as always for your feedback
March 26, 2022 at 7:43 pm #18487Nice. Was that the only thing you did in this training? How did you prepare her for the run? Her speed is ok, she will continue to add to it with experience, but maybe you can always start by doing parts of the sequence crazy balls style as a warm up and than finish by running the whole thing.
I am definitely pleased to see her run like this, when we first started she wasn’t really cooperative outside. 🙂March 29, 2022 at 1:15 pm #18525Hi Polona, thanks for that! Here we are with another go with sone crazy balls beforehand, with a bit more speed!
March 29, 2022 at 11:08 pm #18543Awesome! You2 are rocking it! 🙂
March 31, 2022 at 3:24 pm #18557Hi Polona, thanks for that! I was delighted to revisit turns, as Tori has hated them in the past. We had a session shaping before this one, so this is the second session. She is much more cooperative than before ?
