Hello,
I’m Elise and my dog is Fox!I hope I’m doing this right by writing here 🙂
I’m super excited about taking this course!
My background has been terriers, border collies and Aussie. I got a mudi because I wanted something that would challenge me but was still in the herding group. I had never met a mudi before.
Well, I had NO idea what I was going into and it’s been a massive learning experience for sure.I got him at around 4 months old and he was quite terrified of life. It’s a bit crazy looking back at how far we have come.
We are still very much learning about each other but he’s truly become a best friend. He loves trick training, rally, obedience and agility. Mostly just foundation stuff but he rocked his first agility seminar away this past weekend, which was really cool.
Goals of ours are to work on over-arousal and my ability to give him very clear communication to lower frustration.
Oh and, I got a mudi as a person who hates barking.. well I’ve embarrassed it now haha
I guess to sum it up, I felt like I knew a lot about dog training before Fox but I find with him I often feel like I know nothing sometimes. He’s just so different.

December 6, 2022 at 10:43 pm #19107Welcome! Haha… well mudis can be moody’s. 😉 Really looking forward to meeting Fox and being part of your journey. My little mudi pushed my training skills to a whole other level, that is for sure – as well as all the Croats that followed. 🙂
December 9, 2022 at 2:02 pm #19180Here’s a video of the game “poke me”.
It’s his third time and a bit of the opposite of what we had worked on (see the treat and give eye contact), but he seems to have caught on and enjoys it!This is my first time uploading a youtube video in a while and it has a privacy setting so let me know if you have any problems opening it 🙂
December 9, 2022 at 11:12 pm #19189Yes, unfortunately the video is set on private. It has to be either unlisted or public for me to watch it. 🙂
December 9, 2022 at 11:56 pm #19194Changed it! 🙂
December 10, 2022 at 12:24 am #19195It works! 🙂 What a cute little man! He was surprisingly pushy for a dog that just had the rules of the game change! Since he seems to be quite physical, you can incorporate some “wrestling” moves such as steadily pushing him away by his chest or going in for energetic butt scratches if she “parks” himself in your lap like he did towards the end of the video. And I would also add some food throws across the room sometimes or even hide and seek if you catch a good moment and he takes a long time finding a treat. Or sometimes I would give butt scratches (if the dog “offers” it like yours) and then suddenly get up and run for the dog to chase me a little bit before next throw or poke. 🙂
