Beautiful! Before releasing her to the bowl you can ask for something sometimes – for example a change of position. If she is standing or half sitting when you say ready, place the treat and than tell her to down before you release her. Don’t worry if the reaction or execution will be slow at first.

        Hi Polona,

We incorporated another action like sit or touch after the compressed action ready and before releasing her to the food bowl. Please let us know if we are doing it right. After the first false start, I think she starts to think a little :). Please see our tries here.

        Thanks

She is a rockstar! So quick to figure everything out! If she doesn’t do something immediately give her some time before you repeat the cue, sometimes their brain needs time to process.
This all looks very good, I would try to do variations of these games where you train agility or in some other location outside, so you can get her to really run, chase you around like crazy and then switch to anticipation and release to a reward. Let’s see if it holds up when she switches into a higher gear emotionally.

            Hi Polona,

Happy New Year to you!! We went to agility place and in a way tried this. She has bad start line stay, and I thought ok, maybe I incorporate this. As we are trying this out in agility place where she generally goes crazy, I did not run or let her chase me yet, but rather start this ready as start line stay. I am actually surprised that she can do that, and even do a sit for me and back to ready.

We will try letting her chase me in the next session before switching to anticipation and release to reward.

            Thanks

              Happy new year!

She was a good girl! But you can incorporate it better. 🙂 When you say ready and she settles in anticipation freeze, don’t turn your back at her and “leave her hanging”. Keep your hand with the reward out so she has something to focus on and walk away creating even more anticipation – slowly and with some tension, always looking back at her. And most importantly, when you reach your “destination” :), stop and wait a little, inhale or repeat “reaaaady” before releasing her and throwing the toy.
