Thanks, Polona! I’m so happy to see Lyric running with speed again! 😀 For months on end last year it seemed she was always hormonal, slow and totally unfocused. It was very hard to train anything. Now she’s really having fun!

I think the startlines were a bit better today – still not Lyric’s favourite thing, but overall less stressful.

        Thanks, Polona!

Today Ice and I played more toy games. Ice has never had much interest in balls, but he was pretty happy to play 🙂

Today Boss and I played some food games. This was something new for Boss 🙂

Today we did more work on startline routines and reinforcing sit/wait.Unfortunately Lyric had a leash but no collar, so we tried to improvise. I ignored wrong courses. Lyric was super-happy! 😀

Thank you! Looking forward to trying more short sequences!

This is from a couple of days ago – we added the white numbers. If Lyric breaks the startline, should I just reset her as I did here?

                Thanks, Polona!

Today we started some of the Lesson 2 games, using Ice’s 2 favourite toys from when he was a baby. He loves this game 😀

Just for fun, Ice ran Lyric’s sequence from LPA. He hasn’t done much sequencing yet but is always game to try something new.

                  Thanks, Polona!

Yesterday we did play the ball/wait game using the length of the field. I hadn’t seen today’s comment, so we still had some problems with dropping the ball……but Lyric had a blast 😀 It’s funny, because she’s never really had much interest in balls. She sure loves these!

Thanks for the sequences. Today we tried the grey numbers on the first sequence. Lyric was happy to run. Ice thought it looked like so much fun he ran it too 🙂

Haha, Ice doesn’t care if you think he’s a girl! 😀

Today we went for more speed on the food throws. We got a bit of tugging with the food pouch, but if I grab it too close, Ice lets go. I’m not bothered, though, as he generally tugs pretty enthusiastically.

                      Hi Polona,

I’ve been having a little trouble staying motivated to train – it looks like it will be forever before we actually get to go another agility trial. Today, though, we finally got to leave the house and head to the agility field. 😀 Ice was playing the multi-ball game and Lyric wanted to join in. This time she was okay with offering and holding a sit

We had to wait until the weekend to leave the property – but today we finally went back to the agility field 😀 This food pouch isn’t the best for tugging, as it’s a bit stiff…..but Ice did give it a try!

Today Ice and I played food games. Ice had a blast! We ditched the leash because it was getting in the way and Ice didn’t seem inclined to wander. 🙂

I sure hope so too……but it’s not looking very likely 🙁

We’ve continued to work on incorporating waiting into ball and tugging games. I try not to ask for a sit, as that seems to stress Lyric. Instead I wait for her to offer a sit and take it from there. We’ve been being working a lot on offering sits away from agility.

                              Thanks, Polona. We’ll try that.

The first 2 COVID-19 cases were diagnosed here today. I’m sure we have more but testing has been very limited. Bermuda has totally shut down. Airport closed, no buses, no ferries, no school…….pretty much everything except the hospital. I can’t work from home, so it’s business as usual.

                                Hi Polona,

We were away at Crufts (just as spectators) – what a great dog event!

Well it turns out that we don’t have to worry about any of our agility commitments for the time being. 🙂 Our local trial has been cancelled, AKC Nationals has been cancelled……so more time to play games! 😀

Today we did some leash tugging (I forgot to bring treats the first time 😛 ) and tried incorporating sits into the crazy ball game. “Ready, ready” seemed to tip Lyric over the edge, but otherwise I thought it went pretty well. Lyric certainly enjoyed it!

                                  Hi Polona,

Sorry – I had minor surgery and couldn’t train much for a few days. Lyric was happy to play the multi-ball and food-throwing games 🙂

We can’t totally take a break from real training because of previous commitments but can certainly cut back. This weekend we had a seminar here in Bermuda. Lyric had moments of brilliance, but was mostly slow and un-focused. She’s pretty happy until we start running a sequence, then loses focus and drive.

At the moment I usually bring Lyric into the ring in my arms, drop her and run. I don’t ask for a start line unless it’s really necessary. We have been working on sits, mostly away from the agility field. I reward her for offering a sit or a sit and wait (no sit command, just spontaneous sits). She likes the game.

My ideal routine would be to bring her into the ring tugging on her leash, let her offer a sit, praise the sit, detach the leash, continue to praise the sit, lead out, release and run.
