Last run of the weekend in Jumpers A. He is looking right at my friend who is holding prancers sister scally. She is very driven and vocal! I had to run her 1 dog after prancer so i had my friend hold her. This was a very happy rum frim him. I dud not gave the ball but he thought i did.
Round 3 better…..
First run of the day. Ball and flying start
So I did some bucket training at home today and also included a flying start. I checked with a young friend of mine who is a judge. No problem with the flying start as long as I comply with a few rules like checking in the judge and scribe first and not holding and dropping the dog lol
So a few issues with understating what I wanted to begin with Lol. Sorry I got a bit out of the picture while doing the video.

Sorry about the distraction in the middle lol. I could hear a dog barking around the corner of the tank. I forgot I had let one of my old dogs out…

Actually no this was not in order. I also flayed around with taking the ball and not taking the ball to the line with me. I wondered if not taking it might make him happier to leave the line so the first 2 runs I just took food (which he loves) then I tried taking the ball and playing with it before we went in and after. I feel that he was better when I took the toy. I have another trial not this weekend but next. Yes I can run with a ball. Most judges will allow it but I will be eliminated which is fine. I have tried this before (a long time ago) He was always good when I took the toy but then not when I did not take it so I actually gave him a long break from agility and have only started running him again the past few months. I have not tried starting without a stay. I could try this depending on the course. I will just need to check the rules about this. When I used the ball at the weekend I faked him out and pretended it was in my pocket but I slipped it into the bucket when I sent him to pick up some food. I will practice with the bucket at home as well
I had a trial this weekend so I got a friend to video my runs including my entrance routine. These are a good sample of the runs. So on a positive note he was much better at leaving his bucket and coming with me into the ring. He was also happy to get into his middle position and to sit quickly. I have been struggling with this part of his start routine as well. So that was a big improvement however as you can see my starts were still very slow and he was worried and head flicking.
Pants is smart….. So the first time I tried this he was happy to switch between the toy and food. He has now realised that if he goes for the food I might throw the toy which he has decided he likes more… so he looks at the thrown food and says no…….if I chase it I will miss you throwing the toy. Sigh….

I took Pants to the park for a walk today. I chose 3 large grass areas to train in along the way. So I did a walk then some training then walked to the next area to train ect.
