Back up- the treats between his legs was a game changer!!

Elephant- I hope this is more of what you were thinking of it to look like.

Get back- what should I have him be doing? Does he need to be straight on in basic position or just next to me?

Hand targets- I know I missed some and rewarded some I shouldn’t have.

I’ve worked on some of these things before, the front feet and the elephant/ pivoting before quite a bit. The nose target I’ve done too but never with a closed hand.

The cone wrapping he can do but I didn’t have anything inside to use to wrap. I’ll make sure to include that in the next video

I did a short session today while it’s nice and cool outside (29 degrees with the humidity).

I’m wondering though with my start up routine, carrying him and then some tricks sending him around and running, is that something I should be doing before each teeter rep, before the whole session just the once, not at all because it’s not a course?

I want to start off by saying I had a class this week with Toast. I basically just went because it’s a big place we trial a lot. I did short sequences when everyone was doing the whole course. He was AWESOME! Of course I forgot to record. But I took him out of his crate and played some crazy balls and happy tricks, put his leash on, had him jump into my lap, carried him to the ring, took the leash off,Set him down, did a few more tricks to warm up in the ring and then sent him around me and raced off. He was brilliant. I have to try to keep my nerves in check. I think that’s our biggest issue for sure is him feeding off of me.

Here’s what is in the video, racing to the end of the board and jumping onto the dropping board. A little skateboarding and me carrying him around.

Having him jump on from the deck wasn’t my best idea so I only did it a little bit. I forgot my treats in the house so I didn’t do a big reward when I recorded but did since and forgot to video.

The agility video is a course from a different online course. The grass was wet and I kept the balls in my pocket and I think that definitely had an impact. When will you have more of your courses out?

To work on making him comfortable with being carried I ask him to jump on my lap, hold him, pick him up, and walk around with him. Rewarding all in between and changing it up, not always picking him up, not always walking around. does that make sense?

It’s been really hot here and life has been a little bit crazy. But this is what we’ve got so far.

Some more teeter work. He’s getting a lot braver about jumping on and offering it himself. Because of his size, is there a reason to ever expect him to stay on the end of the teeter? In my mind the finished product is it hitting the ground and him taking off again.

I’m still testing out different start “positions”. He’s happiest about just circling behind me I think. He’s better going from right to left but I’m working to improve the other direction too. I’m trying to spend time each day making him more comfortable being carried so in time I could carry him to the ring.

Here is a little of everything. I’ve tried a couple of different ways to start. Him going between my legs, just going around me, and me holding him on different courses. I think he prefers to start on the ground. These were over a couple of days. I realized I forgot to run the black and grey as the whole course only the first half and the second half. I’ll try that tomorrow but wanted to get some feedback on what I’ve done so far.

I added in the aframe because it’s probably his favourite piece of equipment.

The teeter I tried to help less and have him offer it.

The skateboard I think we made some progress being outside where it can roll better than on the mats.

We did the last two sequences of the first set of courses. I don’t normally use a start line at trials or when training. They seem to make him more stressed out. Our biggest problem is getting to the ring. He’s nervous of other dogs so getting from crate to ring is hard and then getting the leash off to sit stay is basically a punishment for him. And he really dislikes being carried. So I usually stake out a corner by myself and warm up and get ready, get to the ring and take off his leash quick, ask for a couple tricks he likes (backing up, bouncing, barking usually works too) and then just run. Any ideas to help with that?

I did some more skateboarding. The big one doesn’t seem to roll well on these floors. I’m going to try find something I can put under the skateboard so it can roll better.

I’ve been working for a couple days of having toast just onto the stool. Today I put the stool under the teeter board. The last couple of reps I made it so the board could move a little tiny bit

I gave him a couple days off and then tried the white numbers. At the very end (not in the video) I grabbed the toy really quickly from near Toast( he didn’t have it, it was just near him) and it scared him. So I’m going back to some fun with the toy again until he’s willing to play again.

I did some more skateboarding and did a bit with the balls.

I’ve been trying to get him to jump up with all 4 feet onto the tippy board but I just can’t seem to get it. Should I try something higher that doesn’t move? Try something lower that doesn’t move? I’m not sure where to go from here.

I’m working on the skateboard and tippy bird separately and my died. So no video of that.

I built what I think you wanted me too. I used winged instead of cones.

I did a shorter session sending in the tunnel. I’m going to keep working on both inside and outside. I’ll add in sending to a jump from further away. And then should I add a jump to the tunnel sequence or stick with cones? I forgot to reward the sit stay so I’ll make sure to add that in today.

Seesaw- I misunderstood what you meant previously. I thought you wanted me to move the skateboard. I had only done that in the one session. So I won’t do that again. I added in my mini teeter this session as well.

Weaves/contacts- I have an aframe and a set of 12 weaves that turn into channels. And he knows them both. He really likes the aframe. Some days he’s quick in the weaves and some days he’s a little slow. When I notice he’s been a lot slower I open the channels back up and that’s really helped.

I yot in a couple sessions this morning with the two cones and tunnel. He did great with his two balls. You can see where we had some crazy stuff with him just retrieving through the tunnel on his own. Should I be stopping that or rewarding it? I rewarded it because I want him to want to do it.

The skateboard I started him on the bigger one today and was able to move it without him being too uncomfortable I think. I’m trying to come up with more things that move or wobble to keep working on. I’m putting him up on my porch swing with him while I read or knit or some easy higher movement. He doesn’t love it but it’s getting better.

Is there anything else from the other lessons you think I should start on or take a look at?

I was going to try the tunnel outside again but it’s supposed to rain all week now so we will have to stay indoors

I gave toast yesterday off from training. I took him out to our training room today with the latex balls he likes and a container of hot dogs. As soon as we got inside he wanted to work.

I’ve started shaping him to learn to skateboard. I think the movement would be good to help with movement on the teeter. I think I read somewhere on here that it would be good too. I included just a little snip of that.

We’re having a hard time with him eating right now, not sure if he doesn’t like the food ( with covid19 I couldn’t get our regular food) but he doesn’t even want to just eat out of my hand or his bowl really. So we’re working on that.

It’s a bad angle for the tunnel portion but I think I have it figured out for the next session where to put my camera

This is a long video so sorry for that. But this was my whole session this morning in my training room this morning. He would NOT play any good games with my in the house or in the field. I know he was hungry because it was around 12:30 here and he hadn’t eaten breakfast because he wouldn’t work with me.
He didn’t get to the toy pouch just because the session was going well so I didn’t want to push it and try more things.

I used 3 different kinds of balls. One is a small tennis ball that squeaks which used to be his favourite thing ever, it was red, a latex squeaky ball, orange, and a wool/felt ball that was white.

It’s not really going. I’ve tried everything I can think of from different balls to shaping your jealousy with my other dogs or playing alone. I do have somewhere inside I can work easily. I only have normal sized tunnels
